How the calculation works
The calculator multiplies your weekly appointments by your no-show rate to get the missed visits per week, then by the weeks you are open and your average price. A business with 80 appointments a week, an 8% no-show rate and a €25 average price loses about 6 appointments a week, which is roughly €7,700 over 48 weeks.
How to find your no-show rate
Pick a normal month. Count the appointments where the client did not come and did not cancel early enough for you to fill the slot, then divide by all booked appointments that month. If your booking app keeps history, it can usually filter by status. Late cancellations you could not refill count too, because the chair stayed empty either way.
What to do with the number
Compare the yearly figure with what a fix would cost. Automatic reminders, an easy way to cancel, a short cancellation policy and a waiting list are the usual first steps, and each is explained in our guide to reducing no-shows. If you want more clients booking online in the first place, read how to choose a booking app.
Common questions
What is a normal no-show rate?
It varies a lot by type of business, price and how people book. The only number that matters for your decisions is your own, measured over a normal month.
